Sermons

  • Put Away Falsehood

    8 August 2021

    Put Away Falsehood

    Speaker: The Rev. Nathan Stomberg

    Topic: Obedience, Sin, Truth

    Book: Deuteronomy, Ephesians, John, Psalms

We don’t get to “play nice” with sin. When we ignore or keep around “small” sins because it is convenient for us, we forsake the Truth and embrace falsehood. God requires us to embrace his WHOLE commandment – not to keep us down, but so we may truly flourish. Watch this sermon by the Rector to learn more.

  • Faith of our Fathers

    1 August 2021

    Faith of our Fathers

    Speaker: The Rev. Mark Galloway

    Topic: Christian Life, Faith, Truth

    Book: Ephesians, Exodus, John, Psalms

Many of us today look around and no longer recognize the world we live in. We see that truth no longer matters, facts no longer matter, and the rule of law is only applied preferentially. Our civilization now runs on the fumes of the faith held by our fathers. Watch as the Bishop-retired discusses how as Christians, we must recognize faith is an action, requiring us to carry on the Faith no matter what, just as our fathers did.

  • Walk the Line

    25 July 2021

    Walk the Line

    Speaker: The Rev. Nathan Stomberg

    Topic: Christian Life, Obedience

Book: 2 Kings, Ephesians, Mark, Psalms

The Apostle Paul urges us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling. Such a way of living requires us to “walk the line”, as the great Johnny Cash song goes. God requires us to meet a high standard in following Christ Jesus. But thankfully, Christ sustains us along the way.

  • God’s Grace Alone (Annual Meeting)

    18 July 2021

    God’s Grace Alone (Annual Meeting)

    Speaker: The Rev. Nathan Stomberg

    Topic: Annual meeting, Grace

    Book: Ephesians, Isaiah, Mark, Psalms

In a sermon delivered for the first Annual Meeting of Holy Communion Anglican Church, the Rector recounts God’s many blessings on the congregation the previous year and reminds us of the one thing which sustains us: God’s Grace alone.

  • To Whom are You Listening?

    11 July 2021

    To Whom are You Listening?

    Speaker: The Rev. Nathan Stomberg

    Topic: Listening, Obedience, Social media

    Book: Amos, Ephesians, Mark, Psalms

Every day, there are many voices competing for our attention. Social media, television, friends, family, and finances are among those many competing voices. Through the chaos of life, we must remember that we will always become like those people or things we listen to most.

  • A New Birth of Freedom

    4 July 2021

    A New Birth of Freedom

    Speaker: The Rev. Mark Galloway

    Topic: Abraham Lincoln, Freedom, Patriotism

    Book: Deuteronomy, Hebrews, Matthew, Psalms

Our nation drifts further and further from God each and every day. Just as we receive a new birth of freedom when we repent and trust in Christ Jesus, so too does our nation need a new birth and a renewal of faith in God, if true freedom is to be preserved for future generations.

  • The Joy of Generosity

    27 June 2021

    The Joy of Generosity

    Speaker: The Rev. Nathan Stomberg

    Topic: Giving, Joy, Love, Pentecost

Book: 2 Corinthians, Deuteronomy, Mark, Psalms

For those who live in the United States, the ingredients of worldly happiness are right there in front of us. Almost anything we want can be ordered online and arrive at our doorstep in two days or less. We have access to all of humanity’s knowledge and information on our laps and in our pockets. And social media provides us a limitless release of dopamine and an endless supply of ideals to chase after. Ironically, none of these riches make us any happier. The more stuff we get, the more stuff we desire. So where is true happiness to be found?

  • Controlled by the Love of Christ

    20 June 2021

Controlled by the Love of Christ

    Speaker: The Rev. Mark Galloway

    Topic: Love, Pentecost, Providence

Book: 2 Corinthians, Job, Mark, Psalms

Life does not always take us in the direction we would ever ask or imagine. But God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. When we know God’s sovereignty and love to be true, we take comfort, but we can still sometimes hurt. If we therefore love and have been loved, throughout all the trials of life, then in Christ Jesus we have all we need.

  • Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

    13 June 2021

Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

    Speaker: The Rev. Mark Galloway

    Topic: Faith, Pentecost, Providence, Sight

Book: 2 Corinthians, Ezekiel, Mark, Psalms

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing that happens in the world surprises Him! When we are calm, when we continue to say our prayers, we set an example of perseverance and faith for others to follow.
