Philosophy and Empty Deceit

Sermon given by the Rev. Nathan Stomberg on 7 Pentecost (7/24/2022).

When you argue with a person who is held captive by an ideology, you know all of his answers before you even ask the question, because the solution specific to that idea is always going to be his desired end. This is why we see our own social and political discourse breaking down today – ideology, not reason and the love of Christ, is what controls both sides of the debate. We as a people have been taken captive by philosophy and empty deceit.

Readings: Genesis 18:20-33; Psalm 138; Colossians 2:6-15; Luke 11:1-13
